As a fervent supporter of The Burgerstand’s unique monthly specials, I was taken aback this morning when realization struck that a mere eight calendar days remained and I had yet to consume any January goodness. Warm jackfruit marinated in a spicy tomato and peri-peri sauce, served in bib lettuce wraps and topped with a creamy cucumber slaw. Grilled chicken breast topped with sharp cheddar cheese, smoked bacon, whiskey battered onion rings, and a spicy barbeque sauce. A local Salt Creek Farms beef patty topped with smoked gouda cheese, candied bacon, bourbon pickled apple rings, and a roasted onion aioli. Jalapeno pork loaf, sliced and served on Texas toast, glazed with a sweet ketchup, and topped with frizzy onions. This sandwich is music to our ears.. er, taste buds. It’s topped with fresh mozzarella, a kale pesto, sun-dried tomato chutney, a sweet balsamic drizzle, and radish sprouts.
